A woman\u2019s husband got pregnant by another man\u2026 and now they\u2019re raising the \u2018miracle\u2019 baby together.<\/p>\n
Tucker Gilbert, 29, a registered nurse from York, Pennsylvania, was born female but began transitioning to male in 2016, undergoing hormone replacement therapy and getting top surgery.<\/p>\n
He met Danielle, 32, who works as a nurse, in 2020 while they were both employed at the same hospital.<\/p>\n
The two grew close and while they started off as friends, they soon realized that they were developing feelings for one another.<\/p>\n
But Tucker explained during an exclusive chat with Daily Mail that while he was falling for Danielle, he felt like he wouldn\u2019t be able to satisfy her so he suggested they have an open relationship.<\/p>\n
\u2018This was actually the first building block of our relationship,\u2019 Tucker explained.<\/p>\n
\u2018[In the early months] we talked about our ideal dynamic. I suggested being polyamorous and she felt the same way.<\/p>\n
\u2018I am rather quiet and don\u2019t have much of a drive so I didn\u2019t want her to feel as if she had to give up her needs for us to be together.<\/p>\n

\u2018So we started our relationship under the premise that we were open to having other people involved in our romantic lives.<\/p>\n
\u2018There wasn\u2019t any jealousy. We\u2019ve had partners separate of each other and we\u2019ve dated people together.\u2019<\/p>\n
The couple got engaged in 2023, and in April 2024, Tucker found out that he gotten pregnant from a man he was seeing on the side despite using protection.<\/p>\n
At the time, Danielle had actually been trying to get pregnant using a sperm donor so they could start a family together \u2013 and they felt like it was fate.<\/p>\n
\u2018Even with being transgender, I [always] imagined carrying my own child,\u2019 Tucker explained.<\/p>\n
\u2018When I started medically transitioning for my mental and physical health, I had accepted that I probably would not have or carry children.<\/p>\n
\u2018I was excited [about being pregnant] but also deeply worried about what it meant for us. Dani was shocked but relieved.\u2019<\/p>\n
The couple wed that August, and their daughter, Maya, was born in February 2025.<\/p>\n

\u2018[Maya\u2019s father] said he wasn\u2019t ready mentally or financially to be in her life and we respect that,\u2019 Tucker shared.<\/p>\n
\u2018There is an open line of communication if he would like or if Maya wants to seek him out when she\u2019s older.<\/p>\n
\u2018Any time she has questions about her biological donor we plan to meet her on whatever level of understanding she it at.<\/p>\n
\u2018Our responses will change over time, but always convey the truth of the situation. Plus she will have questions about our other partners and we plan to be direct with her, we live how we do and don\u2019t have anything to hide from her.\u2019<\/p>\n
Since Tucker had a radical mastectomy in 2017, he doesn\u2019t have the mammary tissue to support breastfeeding.<\/p>\n
So Danielle decided to go through the lengthy process to induce lactation so she could breastfeed their baby.<\/p>\n
\u2018Dani had to go on a hormone regime several months leading up to the birth,\u2019 Tucker dished.<\/p>\n
The couple wed that August, and their daughter, Maya, was born in February 2025<\/p>\n
Tucker explained that her biological father is not part of her life, but they plan to be completely honest with Maya about their situation when she\u2019s old enough<\/p>\n

\u2018The hormones were then abruptly stopped and she switched to an antiemetic medication and a pumping schedule.<\/p>\n
\u2018It was essentially making her body think it was pregnant and gave birth. She has been able to bond with Maya through breastfeeding.\u2019<\/p>\n
The couple has been open about their out-of-the-ordinary dynamic online, but unfortunately, they\u2019ve been subjected to a slew of hate comments.<\/p>\n
Tucker insisted, however, that they are unbothered by the negativity, explaining that he believes it stems from a \u2018lack of exposure to the transgender community.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018Most just don\u2019t understand why I would want to be pregnant or do something so \u2018womanly\u2019 after purposefully rejecting the femininity in my life prior,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
\u2018Dani and I both find entertainment in the hateful and nonsensical comments. Their irony is what we find hilarious and we have a good time responding comically. We just keep laughing and living our lives essentially.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tucker insisted, however, that they are unbothered by the negativity, explaining that he believes it stems from a \u2018lack of exposure to the transgender community\u2019<\/p>\n
Tucker said he\u2019s been told he \u2018shouldn\u2019t exist\u2019 or that he\u2019s \u2018severely delusional\u2019 and that Maya should be \u2018taken away\u2019 from them. The couple has even \u2018gotten threats.\u2019<\/p>\n
Tucker added, \u2018Harboring that level of hatred instead of just not interacting with my content is beyond my ability to understand.\u2019<\/p>\n
In the end, they said they have no regrets and are so happy with their \u2018miracle\u2019 baby.<\/p>\n
\u2018We call Maya our gay miracle strictly because we did everything not to make her but she was meant to exist regardless of our efforts,\u2019 Tucker concluded.<\/p>\n
\u2018You don\u2019t have to decide between living a happy authentic life and having a family.<\/p>\n
