Two sisters were killed while attempting to aid their father, who has a disability, during a Thanksgiving house fire in Orange, New Jersey, officials said.<\/p>\n

Frantzia Fleury, 49, and her 42-year-old sister Pojanee Fleury were trying to assist their dad when a blaze broke out around 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at a home on Mosswood Avenue, according to CBS News New York and News 12.<\/p>\n

They were pronounced dead shortly after, CBS reported, citing the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Their father and six other people managed to escape and were not injured.<\/p>\n

The cause remains under investigation, CBS reported.<\/p>\n

Pojanee was the founder of Brown Eyez Magazine, launched in 2007 as \u201ca celebration of positive artistry and holistic health\u201d and described on its site as \u201ca community magazine \u2026 for and about African-Americans,\u201d according to her website and the publication\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Frantzia worked as a radiologic technologist at Clara Maass Medical Center in New Jersey, according to her LinkedIn profile.<\/p>\n

A neighbor who witnessed the flames told PIX11 that \u201cI just came here to look, and then I see the whole fire. That\u2019s heartbreaking, and on Thanksgiving, that\u2019s hard. That\u2019s really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
