He\u2019d never been to church in his life except for funerals and weddings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After Mass, the priest caught up with him and said, \u201cJames, I am so glad ya decided to come to Mass. What made ya come?\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James said, \u201cI got to be honest with ya Father. A while back, I done lost my hat, me . . . and I really, really love dat hat. I knowed dat Wille had a hat just like mine, and I knew he came to church every Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI also knowed that he had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church. So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal Willie\u2019s hat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The priest said somewhat angrily, \u201cWELL, James, I NOTICE THAT YA DIDN\u2019T STEAL WILLIE\u2019S HAT. WHAT CHANGED YOUR MIND?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James replied, \u201cWell, after I heard your sermon on the Ten Commandments, I decided that I didn\u2019t need to steal Willie\u2019s hat after all.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a tear in his eye, the priest gave James a big smile and said, \u201cAfter I talked about \u2018Thou Shalt Not Steal\u2019 ya decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in hell, eh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James slowly shook his head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo Father, after ya talked about \u2018Thou Shalt Not Commit Ad\u00fclt\u00eary\u2019, I remembered where I left my hat.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>James showed up at Mass one Sunday, and the priest nearly fell down when he saw him.
